Question
Bethany~

Im keeping my fish in a jar--probably first health code vialation-the water is on the cooler side--2nd vialation- and there are no other tank mates
(i did put her in with goldfish and quikley learned that wasnt a good choice:)
i keep her next to the male betta(with a plate between)and sometimes let them flare-i think its called-but lately shes been more scared of him and has been darting around alot.im not sure what to do but im pretty sure i see red poop at the bottom of the jar and something white(like fuzz and/or missing scales)on her side.

is this normal behavior?
what should i change?

Answer
5 gallon tank is necessary.
72-76 degree water temperature.

Almost sounds like a parasitic infection. You need to put her in a hospital tank immediately and do a 100% water change if your male shares the same "jar". I'm not quite sure which parasite it could be but keep in touch and I'll do some more research.

In case of Dropsy or Septicemia, go to your local petstore and talk to a knowledgeable Fish Specialist. Tell them the symptoms and they'll help you pick out the right medication.

I'll do some more research here on my end.
