Question
Hi Samantha,
I have a 30 gal planted tank that has been up for about two years but has been moved to another part of the house about a month ago. I have in it three dwarf gauramis that I have had for about five months, but were in a smaller tank until we moved the 30 gal and put them in there. Just today I saw one of them building a bubble nest and chasing the other two away from it. My question is has changing their enviroment triggered this behaviour or does he know that there is a female in there. And if there is not a female, will he stress from that. The other two are just hanging out in the grass on the other side of the tank. How can I tell if they are female?
Thank you for your time, sandy.

Answer
Hi Sandy,
I can't just exactly tell you which one is male well obviously the one making a nest but sexing gouramis mostly has to do with the color its real vibrant if its a male and dull on a female.
I think it likes the bigger tank and feels happy and thats why hes making the nest. I dont think he will stress from not having a female but he may want one.
