cichlid problems

QUESTION: About a month ago I my cichlid (african I think) balck and gray striped) got a cloudy eye, i did lots of water chagnes and then he injured same eye on stone I later removed, it looks like he might lose that one, the other day about a week ago i noticed his other eye starting to get cloudy too, not all white yet, still see pupil, i started calling around and in the last weekn have treated him with jungle tank buddies fungus clear, binox, parasite guard and now copper safe and marycyn, all of course iwth water chagnes in between, he is not eating now and has white spots (tiny around head and bad eye. not alot of them but noticeable with light on. was tols by another expert to clean out all meds and leave alone. Is this okay, I cant get back to him he is not aking questions right now and I feeel I am running out of time, so worroied . thanks alot Cathy

ANSWER: Ok i would do a normal water change then treat him for ich because what you are describibg sounds like ich (little white dots). I can't name a medicine to treat ich, but your petstore should have something to treat ich with. If you don't try and cure it fast enough you could end up with an entire tank of fish that all have ich!

QUESTION:  no problem with this but jsut wondering how i sent this to a Dillon when I was ansering questions for a Ron?what about the eye problems where it all my problems started, i have tried all the meds mentioned and had to remove them as he acted so very stress, what would fungal infection around problems witheyes look like, he is alone in tank, he only has these spots in a few places as i mentiond. only around his head nad eyes, a littl near gills, they are very tiny and fall of, but hang out a bit and float from skin if look closeley.what do i do about his eyes while trying to treat for ich? thanks again cathy
ANSWER: Well this got to me from the question pool the expert did not want to answer your question or something and i answer alot of questions from the question pool. Well their is alot of things infections come from, but it sounds like it had eye cloud when you got so it sounds like you bought a sick fish. You said the spots fall off then it might a parasite like little tiny worms feeding off excess food on the bottom of your tank. You should clean out the tank weekley and clean the gravel bed as best as you can to get food, waste, ect. For a medicine i would go to your local petstore and get a medicine to get rid of the parasites. About the eyes i don't know, but when my fish got cut or scraped i use "API's Stress Coat" and it heals the wound so if you are wanting to try it go ahead it might help heal it so i would give a try. The fungus around the eyes would look like the eyes were clouded up and look like a covering over the eyes.

QUESTION: OKAY THIS DID HELP ME SOME , BUT FIRST RALIZE I HAVE HAD HIM FOR 6-7 YEARS, HE IS NOT NEW. IF THE SPOTS FALL OFF IS THI SICH? OR DO FUNGAL SPOTS FALL OFF EASILY? THE ONE EYE DID START OFF CLOUDY LIKEYOU EXPLAINED THEN THE OTHER EYE WENT THE SAME WAY AS I WAS TREATING THE FISRT EYE, THIS IS A FISH IN TANK ALONE TOO. I HAVE CHNAGED WATER EVERY DAY FOR MONTH AND HALF? WILL THI SHURT, WHY WONT HE EAT? IT HSA BEEN A WEEK AND WONDERING HOW LONG THEY CAN GO WITHOUT FOOD, PLEASE TRY TO LOOK AT EACH QUESTION, I APPRECIATE AL THE HELP THANKS AGAIN DILLON, CATHY

Ok if he has not eaten he needs some food now i would go buy some frozen bloodworms and he should eat those. Also don't change the water every daythat stresses the fish out and if you are putting medicne in their and changing the water the medicine is changed and the medicine isn't taking its full effect. Are the dots moving or are they just in one place? If they aren't moving treat him for ich if they are it sounds like a parasite infection so buy a medicne to treat it if needed. Fungal spots should only fall off if being treated thats the only way i saw my fish's ich go away.
