setting up a new saltwater tank

I am replacing my tank. I will probably use Bio Spira. How do you feed the bacteria prior to adding fish, to keep the bacteria from dying off?

It's called "Fishless Cycling" and it's pretty easy actually except for the 'patience' part. Most hobbyists use plain old fish food for the ammonia source, some take a chunk of fresh shrimp or fish and drop it in. Here are some links about it;
