Ants in budgie cage

Question
QUESTION: How Do you get alll the stupid ants out. I never thot it would be a problem but i guess soo.... that it is now.
So, they kinda live outside in a shack kind of play house thingy. So, it would be likely that an ant would come in but idk.
Also, my male budgie, pepper, like has something stck to his nostril. Its white, and only one nostril has this, could this be a problem? Or am i overreacting. I been in camp 11-14th and i came back today, discovering this has happened.

ANSWER: Ugh...ants...I've had a lot of problems with the little buggers too.  They don't hurt anything, in fact, my birds just eat them, but they are a bit of a nuisance.  First, clean up the cage a bit.  Then, make a paste from lemon juice and baking soda and use it to clean the table (if its sitting on something) and then wipe it off with a wet towel.  This gets rid of the chemical trail that the ants leave to follow.  Another thing that might help is hanging the cage from a hook or something to that effect.  I would avoid using pesticides around the birds, but if you want them dead, try mixing sugar and soap and put it in a dish for them to eat; they take it back to the nest where it kills them.

The thing might be something, or it might be nothing.  Do you have a picture?  If so, email it to me: iheartgeekz@gmail.com

QUESTION: Well, it's gone now so it isn't a problem. I mean the white thing not the ants, still working on that.
So i have a rabbit living with me, and my birds, so will that affect on how the birds sleep? Somtimes they sleepa lot in the day-time too.. so that's kinda weird. But will it effect them? (i think rabbits are awake in night) Oh, why is my budgie (female, salt) biting the perch sometimes?
ugh.. these things scare me!

Answer
Most of the time, other animals won't inhibit the budgies sleeping unless they're very noisy or disruptive.  I have 3 cats, 2 dogs, a hamster and hermit crabs along with my budgies, and they have never caused problems with the budgies.

Budgies often take little naps throughout the day, this shouldn't be a problem unless they're sleeping excessively (like 18+hours a day).

Their beaks grow throughout their lives and file down from wear.  Its similar to a rodent's fangs.  Budgies will chew on things to keep their beak filed town and healthy.

Yes, its a bit scary at times, but you're doing fine!
