Question
i have two blue parakeets and i just had a friend that found my second one and now i have two blue parakeets but i dont know if thier boy or girl and i cant tell if thier boy or girl because i dont know what coler thier ceirs are

Answer
Hi, Hagan,

Look at their ceres.  The cere is the colored area above the bird's beak.  Male keets have blue ceres and females have white/brown/tan/beige.  The cere color can change if your birds are less than 12 months old.  A keet less than about 3 months old will still have black lines across its forehead.  The cere color can change if a bird hasn't gone through at least 1 molt at about 6 months of age.  Adult cere coloration occurs when the bird goes through at least one molt, but sometimes it takes the second molt at about 12 months old (depending on overall coloration).
