Question
QUESTION: Hey,
Its winter here and i think my budgies are going to start mating because they are always kissing, there plucking their feathers alot and also their heads go up and down, it looks like there interested. Is it okay if they breed in the winter?

Also which is better a wooden nest box or a plastic one. I bought both and i dont know which one to use.

ANSWER: They can breed any time, but they usually do this during the spring and fall.  As long as they are kept warm and comfortable, they can breed whenever they want.

Wooden nest boxes are generally better because some budgies won't use the plastic ones.

QUESTION: so, it is okay to use a plastic one right?
cause i heard that a plastic one is bad?

Answer
You can try it, but most budgies won't use them.  In the wild, they nest in trees.  So they naturally prefer the wooden ones.  Plastic boxes are better than they used to be, but rinse it very thoroughly first.  The plastic ones sometimes have chemicals on them.
