pulled muscle in leg?

Question
hi,
yesterday i noticed that my budgie would avoid turning around on any perch and whenever he does he kind of falls over as and his wing comes out to stabalise him. he is still using th efoot to walk and he acting completly normal. now whenever he has to turn round he flys.
there are a few ways he could of injured it though - my mum left him out yesterday morning while she went out so he could of done anything to it then as i was in bed upstairs (i had no idea he was out and i have already had stern words with her!). he was on his own for about 20 minutes though. then i had to catch and restrain him as he had a clump of droppings coaght around his vent. while i was gently removing them he was fighting loads as he hates being restrained.
my theory is that he has pulled a muscle in the leg but what do u think? the nearest avian vet to me is well over an hours drive away so i would rather not travel all that way and stress him out if there is no real way to help him as it will just heal naturally. is it worth takin him to a normal vet?
thank u for ur time and i look forward to ur advice and reply,

Answer
Hello Hayley,

Is there any noticeable difference in the birds foot, swelling, blood...?  If there is not, then it is probably something internal. It could be a pulled muscle, although I have never seen this before, it is possible. What you should do is monitor him carefully for a day or two. If it does not seem to be healing and it is causing your bird trouble, i would contact your avian vet. Keep him inside his cage for a while and keep it quiet for him. If you can, make his food and water easy to get to so he does not have to move around so much to eat and drink. I hope your bird gets better!!!
