splayed leg???????

I bought a couple of parakeets from agentle man walking down the street and inside with them was a baby neither he nor i knew about, after a few days i saw the baby and i noticed one of it's legs looked weird,so i took a closer look and it seems sort of twisted i just wanted to know if any thing can be done for my little guy?

Hello Debbie! how thoughtful of you to take the keets! This is a common problem for many baby keets. The cause is unknown but there are a few possible answers. When the chick hatched the bottom of the nest box was too slippery and it could not prop itself up, the mother sat on the chick in a way the leg could not bend, a vitamin deficiency when it was young, or it could be from falling or getting tangled in something. Theres little you can do that will toatally fix its leg because he is older, its easier to correct a leg when the baby is very young.
