Question

3 Budgies
Hi, I just got a 2 year old tame (white with blue and black specks)female
budgie and my (blue and black) male budgie I am wondering how old he is ? I
think he is 2-3 years old but not sure any help? also one more thing  i have a
yellow female budgie that I THOUGHT was 4 months old but the 2 year old
one's bars on her head are gone like hers. so is she still young or is she
older????  thanks!!!

Answer
Dear Bryna,
thank you for your question.
Once the juvenile budgies have molted for the first time and lost the markings on their head, it's almost impossible to tell their age. With the two yellow birds it's even harder because this colour variety doesn't have any wave markings as a young bird and they will probably never get the rings around the iris that other colour varieties get as older birds. So it's possible that the one bird is four months old. With older birds, you can sometimes tell from their behaviour because they don't play as much as younger birds, but that is not always the case.
I hope I was of some help to you and I'm sorry that you had to wait such a long time
Jennifer
