My budgies first egg

Question
My budgies have a cage together, however, I have an egg incubating and I can see its growing just fine. I need help to know if my mother budgie is going to "act" as a mother or if I should feed the bird my self when it hatches? I need to know because I don't want this poor thing to be born and die of starvation or something horrible. Please let me know, as soon as possible. I fear the egg may hatch soon! Thank you in advance!

Answer
Do you mean that it's artificially incubating?  If she is the one incubating, then yes, she will mother it.  But she won't if it's artificially hatched then returned to her.  The mom will not accept a chick unless it's hers, and she's been raising it, and knows it to be hers.  You can give her egg, and she will raise it, but not a chick.

If you do plan on hand raising it, let me know.  I've got plenty of experience to help you out!
