In most circumstances, a baby cockatiel should be about 8 weeks old. However, age isn't necessarily the issue here...it's whether the baby is weaned or not. A cockatiel breeder shouldn't allow an unweaned baby to be adopted by someone until the baby is fully weaned from its parents and eating and drinking on its own.
