Budgie nesting

Question
Hi, it's David. I have a nesting box for my budgies, and I am wondering if I should put any materials there, so they will make a nest? On the internet and some other people say that they only need a box, but I watched some videos on you tube, and it shows some materials there in the box. Do I put any material in my nesting box, so that my budgies can make babies?

Answer
Hello David,

It is not necessary to have nesting materials in the box. Actually, most budgies will throw out whatever you try to put in there. What i have done that seems to work well is folding up an unscented, etc...regular paper towel and putting it in the bottom of the nest box. If the females don't like it they shred it up and it turns into a good soft nesting material. And if they like it the way it is then it is still soft and safe for the birds. But it is not necessary and whether you decide to use materials or not, it will not make that much of a difference.

Hope this helps!
