Question
QUESTION: i have a male budgie and a female budgie and they had an egg with each other, just two days ago. and after the two days of the egg just been layed she has now come out of the breeding box and she will poke her head into the breeding box sometimes. but all today she has no been in it. it is her first egg. what does it mean if she dosnt lay on her egg?

ANSWER: Hi, Leah,

Happy holidays!

Most birds do not start incubating their eggs until the second egg is laid.  Your bird will most likely lay up to 6 eggs.  If she doesn't start incubating when her second egg is laid, then let me know.

QUESTION: hey happy holidays to you too!

oh ok. well just this morning, she rolled out the egg that i was telling you about and rolled it out of the breeding box. is that normal?

Answer
Hi again, Leah,

Tell me what type of setup you have with your birds.  What type of nesting box?  Most boxes don't allow a bird to just roll an egg out.  Did you put any substrate into the bottom of the nesting box?  If so, remove it.  Any other birds in the same cage with this breeding pair?  Provide as many other details as possible so I can understand what might be going on.

Thanks.
