Question
My two budies are about 1 or 2 years old. they are male and female. They had just laid an egg about a week and a half ago. They laid 6 eggs. one of the eggs had hatched. what do i do? do i bring the nesting home with me on a car trip to the vets office? do i bring the parents with me? do i just bring the whole cage to the vets office? please i really need help!

Answer
Hello Alyssa! *laughs* dont be so worried! ^_^ Its normal for the keets to hatch! Theres no need to rush to the vet! A pair of keets will lay their clutch and one chick will hatch every other day. the parents will feed and care for the babies themselves. (sometimes keets can be bad parents and will kill the babies after a few days, but this is totally normal.) Just give the mom and dad some privacy and try to resist peeking into the box. :D i know its very hard but she may feel over watched and will leave the nest. If she is a good mom and feeds all the babies then they will grow up to be wonderful little keets! but mom and dad are perfectly capable to take care of the babies. Its what they do! This is just nature at its best, you will enjoy and learn a lot from watching the baby keets grow. The mother will keep the baby warm by sitting on it and will turn the chick over on its back to feed it her crop milk. The father will help feed and watch over his mate and will feed the babies from time to time. good luck with your new chicks!
