Answer
Hi, Katie.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time following your post.  I'll try to help, but I may misunderstand some things you're trying to tell me.

Both your birds are showing some signs of possibly being sick.  A bird who sleeps most of the time with its head turned around onto his back could be ill.  Depends on if the bird is showing other signs of illness and/or how the bird is behaving otherwise.  If this bird only does this when it is sleeping, it would be OK.  However, if this bird is sleeping all the time, it could be ill.

The bird with the messy bum could also be ill.  A messy vent is usually a sign of digestive problems.  Have you changed their diet recently?

You may want to consult a certified avian veterinarian regarding these birds to see if they may be ill.

Birds prefer other birds to humans.  This may be why Swop's behavior changed when the new bird entered the home.  Swop may prefer the company of the other bird to you.

If I haven't answered your questions or I've misunderstood something, please let me know.
