Question
Hi
I have an aviary with 4 budgies 2 quail and 1 cockitoo.
Just recently I brought my quail later i found that they had mites. the mites have now spread thruogh out my whole aviary I was wondering if you knew any recipies or sollutions on how to get rid of them?
also I was wondering do  you know any thing about quail? if so........
the othe day when I put my budgies water bowl on the foor while i went to get my other bowl to put on the floor for the quail (i did not think the quail would be able to get in) while i was gone my quail jumped into it and was swimming around like a duck. i was wondering is this normal and should i let them do this?

Answer
Hi Emily,

It is not reccomended that you try any home remedies to rid your birds of mites try a mite spray or take one of the infected birds to the vet where they can prescribe a powder or spary to get rid of the mites.
It is perfectly normal for your quail to have a bath in the water, however since it is infected by mites I would not let it swim in your budgies drinking water. Try using a water dispenser instead of a bowl for their drinking water to prevent them from getting worms and other internal parasites.
