Question
About a month ago, I got a parakeet from petco. He would step on my hand, but that was about it. He was lonly, so I got anouther bird. The first bird lost a bit of his tameness, but quickly got it back.
This is how everything stands right now. I have a bird that will go on my fingure, especially when I have millet. I also have a bird who doesnt touch my fingure. Both are young, and I have taken each out of there cage to a private spot with little effect. Everyday I talk to them for a long time and feed them millet and try to tame them. What should i do to be more successful? Both birds groom each other a lot.

Answer
Hi Lydia,

Try getting the more tame bird to hop on your finger in front of the less tame bird, the less tame bird should hopefully do whatever the more tame bird does as it sounds like they have bonded well. The problem here might be that your second bird has bonded with your first instead of you... Which can be frustrating. Keep doing what you are doing and try and take the second budgie away from the first as much aspossible allowing you to bond with it,so just to clarify when you are taking them to a "private spot" make sure it's one on one and you're not taking them together.
