Question

My budgie.. I think is tamed. SHe comes up to my arm and picks on my jacket. He does this when SHE wan'ts to explore. Where she lives. is kind of a.. barn looking things except smaller. When it flie's around (never tried to let it out) I am scared it might bump into wood hunges.. bleed.. or even worse, die.

Should i let it fly? (in the barn looking palce)

Also, sometimes it starts biting me, even though it' on my hand!!!

SOMETIMES

Answer
Its important to find a secure place to let your bird fly.  If you don't think the barn looking place is safe, go with your instincts.  Better safe than sorry.  While they're intelligent animals, keep in mind their eyes are on the side of their heads, so their depth perception is a bit poor.  Find a place without windows, or where windows can be covered by curtains or blinds, and where there are no "water hazzards" ie: toilets, sinks, etc.  I use a bedroom, that way the door can be shut, the windows covered, and its quiet enough for them to feel secure.

Biting is normal, and often a sign of affection.  If you watch budgies socialize, they often preen and nibble at each other.  They will sometimes do the same to you.
