Female Parakeets

Question
I have had a male parakeet for about a year now and recently bought another parakeet which I thought was also male. After looking at her more closely and reading about parakeets online I have discoved that the new bird is a female. I do not want babies and do not have the time to raise them. The birds I have now don't really seem to like me as much as I would hope. I have read that if you take the eggs out of the cage that the female will continue to lay more and could lay herself to death. What can I do to make sure that I do not have babies, I don't kill my female parakeet and do not separate her from her friend.

Answer
The only thing you can do to prevent a male and female from laying eggs is to keep anything and everything that may look like, or is, a nest box out of the cage. She will simply lay them off the perch and they crack on the bottom of the cage, no harm done.

Good luck Celinda! Hope I Helped!
