Budgie wont come out

Question
Hi, I've had a budgie (just one) for about 4 months now.
He's tame enough to come onto my hand and eat if i put
seeds there, but he really doesn't like coming out of his
cage. If i take him to a room where he can't see his cage
he'll happily sit on my shoulder and play around, but as
soon as he's near the cage he'll fly back in. It's the same
if i leave the door open and leave him alone, he still
won't come out on his own. I don't think there's anything
around that's frightening him, he just prefers to be inside
the cage...is there anything i can do to persuade him to
come out?

Answer
Hello Zheng.
Parakeets love the be in the safety of there cage. And they love to just know that they are around it. However, if they have the choice of being on the shoulder of another creature, and being in or on the safety of there home, they are going to choose their home. Theres nothing you can do to persuade them to stay on your shoulder, thats just the way things are. Sorry I couldnt have been of more help!
