Question
QUESTION: My female parakeet had 1 egg 2 days ago, so shouldn't the next egg be here today? Should I put some bedding into the nest box? Some adults are telling me not to touch the egg because they say the egg will get messed up, is that true? And when you egg candle what do the lines look like?

ANSWER: The time between eggs budgies lay is approximate.  Don't worry if it takes a few extra days, especially if its her first clutch.  She may not have as many eggs the first clutch, usually about 3.

You don't need nesting material.  Budgies like things simple.

If there is no reason to have to handle it, do not do it.  Its unlikely, but it is possible you could cause harm.  If you must handle it, pick it up gently, keeping it at the same level as you found it, and place it as closet to the same way as it was when you picked it up.

QUESTION: Also, my nest box does not have an indent on the bottom of the box. The female seems fine now, but will it be a problem later on?

Answer
Not all nest boxes have the indent.  Its designed to keep the eggs from rolling around, but the pair will often rearrange the eggs anyway, trying to make sure they all get even warmth.

I don't entirely understand the second half of your question.  Will what be a problem later on?
