Questionmy budgie, Buddlia is eating her poo off her toy ladder witch she cleans herself on. someone told me she was missing a mineral of somekind if so what is it and whayt food shall i buy that contains it??????help!!!
AnswerDear Natalie,
thank you for your question.
Offer her cuttlebone and bird grit (crushed oysters or other clam shells) for calcium. Tree branches are a good source of minerals and birds love to climb on them and gnaw on them, they also make good perches tht train the bird's muscles. Hazel, beech, birch, oak, poplar, apple and pear are safe trees, as long as they are not treated with insecticides or grow near a busy street. Leafy greens, fruits and vegetables should be offered at least every other day. This website has a great list of safe food for budgies:

With a varied diet like this, Buddlia should be okay. There are mineral/vitamin supplements that are mostly used for reptiles, but you can offer her those, too, sprinkled over her seeds/pellets. But they are not strictly neccessary as long as you offer her a selection of other foods apart from seeds/pellets.
I hope I was of some help to you
