Wanting to get a budgie

I live alone and want to get a budgie as a companion.  We had one when I was young and loved it a great deal.  However, I am gone for about 3 days at a time (coming home the 4th day) every 2-3 months.  If I train the budgie to drink from a water bottle type feeder could I leave it home alone safely?

I'm sorry for responding late to your question(s).  I was hospitalized and trying to catch up.

I do not recommend you leave any bird alone for any extended length of time.  One day is one thing, but too many things can happen that make leaving a bird alone for 3 days at a time problematic.  They can get their legs/feet stuck in things, the bird could run out of food, water, etc.  The only way I would recommend this would be if you had someone come in every day to check on the bird.
