is it true that if you have a pair of english budgies that have been together for a long time(about 5mths) and you seperate them ,and put the female with another male, they will not eat and die

Hi, Nancy.  Thanks for posting!

Why would you want/need to separate them?  Birds usually mate for life with their partner, so you should try to avoid separation if at all possible.  Separating them can result in a bird becoming depressed, etc., and some might not eat at first, but I've never known a bird who's been separated from its mate to just plain starve itself and die.
