Question
hello - i have 3 baby birds born sept 6, 8, 10.
The mother was feeding them all up till today - i came home and found the little one with his fluffy feathers on his back and neck plucked out.  Not bleeding buy really red- I think its the mother- i am trying to feed them formula- but they are not really eating much- I just brought them to the vet- and they said their weight was fine and they looked great- I need some help so they will all survive.  (i had a prev bird die 1 month and 1 week) it was so sad. I cant let it happen again.   Thanks Every time the mother went into the nesting box- I heard the babies scream I am almost positive its the mother- I have sectioned them off until i hear from you

Answer
Hi Nadine,

Some mothers do pluck out the babies feathers i'm not sure why.
If you choose to rear them yourself you will need to syringe feed them using chick rearing formula make sure the formula is for grainivores. Remove the nesting book from the cage and buy a heat lamp (available from the reptile section in your pet store)
I also recommend you take them to an avian vet not a small animal vet. For another check up in about week.
Chicks eat about every 2-3 hours and in small amounts when they are hungry they will ussually cry.

Good luck with your chicks!
