Question
Hello I have a question about how to get a budgie out of a cage with full flight feathers?  Can you give me some tips on how?  I don't want tips saying to grab your budgie with a towel or clip its flight feathers because I think that puts stress on it.  Please help me!!!

Answer
How old is the budgie?  Older birds are generally more difficult to tame and get out of their cages.

You say you don't want these tips, but they are not as stressful on the bird as you thing.  Covering the bird with a towel may be stressful for a moment, but it allows them to be captured faster so they aren't stressed for as long.  And clipping feathers is harmless.  Eventually they get used to it, like clipping a dog's nails.  It doesn't cut through any nerves or blood vessels, and is painless.  If you're trying to help them learn to come out of the cage, this is best because it makes them more reliant on you, and makes them more tame because they are not able to get away from you and associate you with security.

You can also try hand feeding.  Just take some millet in your hand and offer it some food.  A little bribery sometimes goes a long way.
