Question
my budgie has laid about 5 eggs in the nest like structure. and now the female is inside the cage all the time and the male is sitting opposit the cage outside.
am fearing that the female is not eating the food as she is inside the nest and not comming out.
2. the male is going to the nest and talking her and then comming again back. how does the female get foof now does she get out or does the male get food for her ?
3. and i have kept the cage some distance away from the window and only some of the light is there in the room i cant keep the cage outside as cats are there outside. does this lighting conditions effect the budgies
thank you

Answer
Hello Mubeen!
Congrats on your clutch!
The female will always stay in the nest with the eggs as she needs to keep them at a constant temp or the babies will not hatch. The male will eat food from the bowl, and then feed the female from his mouth as he comes and goes inside the nest to her.
Lighting does not effect the parakeets, however it shouldnt be PITCH black in the room and it shouldnt be too light in there either.

Everything is going as planned with your keets. When the eggs hatch, the female will come out and feed for herself, as well as go back in the nest to feed the chicks the same way the male fed her while she wasw in the nest sitting on the eggs.

Good Luck!
