Budgie Cage Size

Question
I have two budgies who I keep in the same cage. I let them out of their cage everyday, but they spend most of their time inside their cage. The size of their cage is 19 inches long by 11.125 inches wide by 19.125 inches tall. I was wondering if this cage is large enough to keep two budgies in? If this cage is too small, what size do you recommend?

Answer
Hello Adam! The minimum dimensions for a budgie cage is 20 inches long, 12 inches deep, and 18 inches high. This will only accommodate the birds only for sleeping and eating. Ideal dimensions for a cage is 40 inches long, 20 inches deep, and 32 inches high. The bars should be no more than 1/2 inch apart. If your budgies are aloud playtimne outside their cage then your cage is a good size. With birds, bigger cages are always better but its no rush to get a bigger cage. A bigger cage would give them much space to play but they are also more expensive. If you wish to get a bigger cage for your birds then feel free to do so. But what you have now is ok for 2 birds. (if you plan on getting more than 2 birds then a bigger cage is highly recomended) good luck!
