Question
Hi again Amber... thank you for responding very promptly, however, i am still not clear with your response to my questions.. what do i have to do to be able to take them out of the cage on my will whenever i want?  i was thinkin they dont listen because i got both of them at the same time.. do u think when i do training sessions i should do them seperately or does it not matter?  i understand your advice is to let them get out of their cage on their own will, however, are u telling me to train them seperately when they are out or at the same time?  i would really like to know a little more specifically how i can eventually get them to get on my finger and get them out the cage at will.  everytime i am about to clean the cage... it takes forever to get them out cuz they keep hopping off everytime i try to pull them out.  i dont know why they dont listen in the cage because i have never grabbed them forcefully at all.  i have had 2 budgies before the 2 i have now and it was never a problem to take them out at will.  pleasebear with me and bless me with your guidance.

Hi Amber.. i am an owner of 2 budgies.. i have had them for about 2 months now...  i have read and researched several websites on the internet on how to train budgies.. both of them dont seem to listen when i say "up" when i have my hand in the cage and want to take them out, however, when they come out of the cage on their own will, and already out, they listen when i say "up" as if they are well trained.. i am desperatly turning to u in complete frustration for your expertise and advice to guide me as a better budgie owner. what do i have to do to be able to take them out of the cage on my will whenever i want?  i was thinkin they dont listen because i got both of them at the same time.. do u think when i do training sessions i should do them seperately or does it not matter?

Hi ben! Budgie training can be a very frusterating process. Normaly birds do not like to be take out of their cage because they feel you are invading their territory. They are frightened that they will get hurt because now being in a cage, they have no where to fly. This is normal and should not be discouraged. If they listen to you outside the cage, thats a very good sign. Even my tamest budgie did not like me to grab him while in the cage. Let them come out on their own and keep working with them. If you make them come out by grabing them or another method, this may end up tramatizing them of the human hand, and of you. They will fear that big hand grabbing them and you will loose their trust. We must have respect for these birds or we can never learn to live with them in harmony. Let them come out on their own and they will relize that coming out isnt so bad. If they just wont come out, tempt them with some millet spray. Other wise your being a very good budgie owner! good luck with your keets

Answer
hello again! i am sorry and i apollogize for not answering you fully. Like i said before, you should not take them out whenever you want. Let them gain your trust and then they wont be so scared when you reach in and grab them. Getting them both at the same time doesnt really affect whether they are responding to you. Training them seperatly will give you better results because you will have some one on one time with them. Otherwise they will be paying attention to eachother. They veiw their cage as saftey and they will do whatever they feel like doing. Taming them to step up is a very time consuming process. When you work with them, Say "step up" and make them step up onto your finger, keep doing it over and over. They will eventully learn what you what them to do. Its take much patience and time. WHile cleaning if they wont come out then just shoo them out, they will continue to jump off your finger when in the cage. If you get frusterated then just gently grab them in your hand (make sure not to put preasure on their chest because you can sufficate them this way) As soon as they are out release them quickly onto the floor or where ever you put them. All budgies are different, and these 2 may not be as used to human contact as your other ones were. If i missed something please inform me and i will give you as much info as i can
