throwing Foof out

"hi!
i have a baby parakeet that was just recently born. when he/she? was
weaned, i sperated the female and male. but i later noticed that the baby
was going into one of the large white food bowl cups and digging all
the seeds out. it looked kind out like a dog trying to bury a bone. what
is he/she? doing? is she making a nest? how can i make her stop?
he/she?  is very yoing and if she lays eggs, she will get egg bind!"

Hello!

How old exactly is this bird? If she is over 4 months, she may be trying to make a nest. My bird did this once and she later laid eggs but she was of the proper age. To stop her i simply put a much smaller food dish in so she could not get into the bowl. Is she the only one in the cage? Does she have a male bird with her? I would just get a smaller dish and put it in the cage. Monitor her behavior and see if she shows any other breeding behavior.
