almost done taming!

Question
My budgie is almost completely hand tamed, thanks to this site! I give everyone a big gold star! :) Just two quick questions, MY budgie still hasnt made any noise in over a week, (He's from a bin of budgies) and he never wants to leave his cage. i REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO TAKE HIM AROUND THE HOUSE, AND TO HEAR HIM CHIRP. sorry about the caps. What should i do abouty these problems?

Hi Lydia,

Can your budgie hear other birds chirping? This should encourage him to whistle.
The cage is his safe haven so he will always want to return to it, the best thing to do is put the cage out of his sight while he is out then basically he has no option but to stay out (it sounds cruel but it's not).

Try playing music having the TV on etc. to encourage whistling also make sure there is plenty of sunlight this helps lift his mood
