Question
i have a male and a female budgie that are both 10 months old. the problem is that i have had to buy 2 new cages in the last 3 months. the budgies are constantly picking the plastic coating off the bars until it is completely bare.  is there anything i can do or anything that i can buy to try and stop this. i would br grateful for any help.

Answer
Hi Jonatthan,

This sounds like a definate problem especially as they are picking at plastic. Try putting cuttle bone in the cage or a grit block and replacing the perches with sticks (preferably with bark on them)hopefully these things will distract them from picking at the bars. Also do they have toys in the cage? As they may be doing this out of boredom and frustration.
If this fails try to find a wire cage without the plastic coating.

Goodluck with your new budgies!
