budgies and traveling

Question
I have a male and female budgie, we are in the process of hatching eggs, 1 hatched and 2 to go.
We will be driving from Alaska to the lower 48 next summer. The 2 adults are banded and I know I have to get a certifcate from a vet to get them across the canadian border, will they have to band the babies too? And what will be the safest way to travel with them, we are driving a motorhome out. Quarters will be somewhat cramped so want to make them as comfortable as possible. Just hoping the motion doesn't make them sick.
Thank You,
Frankie

Answer
Hi, Frankie.

I'm sorry, but I don't know the laws for bringing parrots across the Canadian border.  You'll have to check with Canadian authorities about this requirement.  For traveling, just ensure the cage is stationary and won't move about too much or fall.  Ensure the birds have sufficient air circulation, but not exhaust fumes.  Ensure the birds are hydrated properly at all times and don't get overheated.  Motion usually isn't a problem for birds.  Just try to keep everything as routine/normal as possible.  Your birds should do just fine.
