Question
hello chris
i have a fischer couple i had them for about 7 months now
they laid some eggs like 2 monthes ago then they didn't hatch so they discarded them outside the nest then i removed the remaining and cleaned teh nest and gave them some new matterial to build a new one ,since their first time was a failure i tried to teach the female to stay with the eggs so i was punishing her by closing the nest door each time she left it and make her worry about the eggs since then she took good care of them and finally i locked them in the cage and had a sneak into the breeding box(nest)and i found a small red baby (so cute) anyway i closed the door quickly cause the female was acting mad then it's been a week since then and no sound on the baby should i look again and what should i do ,how could i hand feed it? i am clueless

Answer
Hi, Michael.  Thanks for posting.

You cannot teach a female parrot how to take care of her eggs/babies.  She knows more about what's going on with those eggs/the developing embryo inside than you do, and she knows exactly what to do/what not to do (at least in 99% of the cases).  Yes, you should definitely look to see what's going on with the baby.  You should be checking on the baby(ies) once a day or once every other day at least to ensure everything is going OK.  This is part of your responsibility as the owner of a breeding pair of birds.  You should have never let your birds breed and lay eggs if you had no knowledge of how to care for them and their babies should problems crop up.  I'm not picking on you, but so many people think how cute baby birds are and are fascinated by the breeding process, but they don't have a clue as to what they are getting themselves into and the birds are the ones who suffer.

You can find information on handfeeding on my website (how to do it, what to feed babies, etc.):

http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/birdinfo.index.html

I keep information there because I'm asked the same questions over and over and it's a good reference spot for those who might need to reference the material more than once.

Come back if you have questions.
