Baby bird with broken leg?

Question
I saved a breeding pair of ringneck doves from a person that abused them. They ended up having one of their eggs hatch, after about 3 weeks I noticed the baby's leg was sticking out to the side. I would try to put it back under it, but it's like it's broke or something and I don't know enough about birds to know if the mom stepped on it's leg and broke it or just what. If it is broke is there any way to fix it with a homemade splint? Will it hurt the bird to bend it back to where it's straight under it? I can't afford a vet and live in a small town where we don't have any vets for birds.  Please help. I can send a picture if that would help for you to see what I'm talking about. I don't want the baby to die. I would really appreciate your help.  Thank you!!!

Answer
This is what is called splayed legs it happens when the babies are in a nest with a slick floor and when the mother sits too tight. a vet might be able to fix the leg now but I think its too late I bealvie the time fame to fix splayed legs is around 10/14 days..bending it back isnt an option you can break the leg this way. Go to   www.google.ca    or.com whatever works for you and type in how to pervent or fix splayed legs in baby birds and you will get more insight then I can offer.
