Question
if you know anything about chickens, or maybe you could just guess, either way, i used to have 2 chickens, one is very people-friendly. i got 2 new ones and ever since she spends all day and night in a nest she made in a bush. she hasn't laid 1 egg since then either. the thing is when we pick her up and make her walk around shes perfectly fine and healthy and she goes to eat a drink for a few minutes, but then returns to her nest. do you know maybe what is wrong or how to make her stay out of that nest?

Answer
Hello Nicole,

Free range chickens do spend a lot of time in their nest before they lay eggs. Chickens are a domesticated animal, designed by humans for one thing - food. It is a very strong instinct for her to lay eggs, not something you can change.

If you are concerned for her health then you should make an appointment with your avian veterinarian.
