Corn Snake Spitting Up Food

Question
I have Corn Snake that is about 8 months old. We started feeding him fuzzies 2 1/2 weeks ago and went last night to feed him another one. He swallowed it until the tail was sticking out of his mouth but then spit it up and would not eat it. I went out and bought pinkies to see if he will eat them-I thought maybe the fuzzy was too big for him, but someone told me if he swallowed it that much it wasn;t too big. Is something wrong?

Answer
Hi Kristie,
That is not true. I have seen a 2' snake attack a 8" mouse. Always feed food that is no bigger than the snake is at it largest point (girth). As for him spitting the food out, do not be concerned unless this is a trend that continues. Wait 4 - 7 days and try again with the appropraitly sized food. If he continues to loose his food, it is best if you take him to an exotic animal vet.
