Question
We have a 1yr old female Lavender Bearded Dragon. She has not had a bowel movement in over a week. She has been eating and drinking normally, however we stopped feeding crickets a few days ago and have been feeding bannanas strawberries and have cut down on her greens a little. She is housed in a 50gal tank with reptile carpet. Her basking area is 110-120 and her cool area is 80. She has a large pool that she has taken to sleeping in the last few nights.. We have been bathing her 2 times a day and rubbing her belly and its not working.. We dont have a vet in our town who is qualified in treating reptiles so Im really stuck

Answer
Hello Diana,

Your dragon sounds lovely.  Do you have any pictures of her?  Do you suspect impaction?
When feeding crickets, they must be smaller than the space between the eyes.
I would cut down on the bananas, as they are high in oxalates & will bind calcium absorption.  The greens are excellent for her & the strawberries are fine, but, in moderation.  They have naturally high blood sugar counts so feeding fruit should be kept to a minimum, say, a few times a week.
Instead, if you are trying to treat an impaction, you can use sugar free applesauce, along with canned pumpkin & a couple of drops of olive or mineral oil given daily, to help.  Bathing daily can help an impaction too.  Try massaging gently on the right side of the body, starting at the arm pit all of the way down to the vent area.
How often do you give calcium?
How long have you had her?  What substrate is she kept on?
What type & brand of UVB light do you use, is it a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?
What type of thermometer are you using to measure the temperatures with?
The recommended basking temperatures area 95-110 & on the cool side, around 78-82 or so.

Let me know how she is doing.
