Question
hello, I am currently in college and i am looking for a pet.. ive been looking at lizards for a lil and they seem very interesting as a pet. I was wondering if you could recomend a good breed of lizards that is friendly, grows to be about a foot long.. and requires a decent size tank.. (not to big.. i am in a dorm) and i dont like leapord geckos because they have that fat tale.. something i dont like..

I was looking at Bearded dragons and uromastyx... what size tank to these require?

Answer
hey nishan
yea, bearded dragon is what i was gonna recommend..I have one and theyre great. However, they are a bit high maintenence(replacing the lights, daily feedings, etc.) but ive had mine for over 2 years, and i dont regret getting him...he is definately worth the work.

As for cage size, you shouldnt go less than 2ft long, since beardies get to be about 24"(dont let that scare you tho, its mostly tail). My cage is 4ft long, and id recommned you get about the same size.

If you decide to get a beardie, i can help you with setting up his cage and give you advice based on my experience with mine. However, ive never kept a uromastyx, so i wouldnt be able to help you there.

Word of warning: do NOT consider an iguana. There is a long list of reasons, but bottom line is they do not make good pets.

Hope this helped.
