Questionhi I have a mangrove wild caught snake I wanted to know
what are signs of parasites internal and external
and what cures are there and how can I buy them.
Also it has been force fed but I heard they can eat fish lizards and what not. it is a venomous snake just not deadly.
AnswerHello Kaitlynn,
The signs of parasites are lack of appetite, worms in the water if he defacates in the water, weight loss, lethargic behavior, & poor color.
External parasites such as mites are usually easy to spot on or around the eyes, face & in & around the scales. A good soaking & a soft toothbrush usually gets them off.
You can deworm him with Panacur, that will take care of the problem, most of the time.
Yes, they can eat lizards, but I am not a fan of that since I keep lizards. I feed our snake frozen/thawed rats & he has done fine on them for almost 5 years now.
Do you have a picture of your Mangrove?
