Bearded Dragon Light Recommendation

Question
Sorry to bother you with another question, but your knowledge on past question was great. To replace the less desirable compact UVB light, we are looking to order a 36 inch Flukers combo light (holds 18 inch florescent with two 100 watt screw in bulbs). Is the 18 inch long enough for the 36 inch 40 gallon reptile tank?  Also, based on concerns with the compact, is the 8 or 10 tube UVB best for a beardie (any recommendations on brand or type is appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Ken,

The 18 inch is long enough for a 36 inch tank.  The UVB tubes really only need to go 1/2 to 3/4th of the length of the tank.  Just focus the UVB & heat on one end, & then the remaining length of the tube will run into towards the middle of the tank, no problem.  The 8 & 10 doesn't matter, as it is just the fitting of the particular fixture.  I believe that the 10 is the standard flourescent tube a& the 8 is slightly smaller.  They both should fit in a standard fixture though.
The Reptisun 10 or the Reptiglo 8 are the 2 best flourescents you can get.

Let me know how things are going.
