to much UVB?

Question
I have a question concerning my bearded dragon (Camo),  This morning i woke and turned on his lights( a zoo med 75w Basking Light, and a Repti-sun full spectrum UVB 10.0 non liner bulb which a later found out is not good for them) hence the question.  He hasnt opened up his eyes all day.  and after takeing him to the vet, which was pointless and not cheap he still is not better.  He wont move at all he just stays where ever it is I put him. I later sall hem trying to scratch at his eyes and rub them on the rock so obviously his eyes are bothering him.  He trys to open them but cant keep them open.  I tryed to sooth his eyes with luke warm water using a droper and it actualy seemed to help him a little.  His eyes while shut are a greyish color and when he opens them, they look hazie.  Do you think the UVB light was to much for him I?  I just got it 2 days ago, after finding out that he needed a UVB light to properly digest calcium.  I think I put it to close as I didnt know.  The bulb is longer than the dome housing so instead of leaving it cocked sideways on the cage I left the top slid off just enough to put the bulb inside the opening with the housing rested on top of the cage.  I have only had him for 17 days and he is probably 3 months old ( 9 1/2 inchs long).  the problem didn't appear until after the UVB bulb was put in his cage.  I was lead astray on what to get for his set up by a manager at a pet store.  I feel terrible for Camo and i just want to help him.  Please let me know what It could be and what I could do.  Is there a cream for his eye?  Also at the pet store they dont have UVB lights in the setup with the baby beardies.  So as far as I know He hasn't been exsposed to one much at all.

Answer
Hello Tony,

The Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb is the best UVB light that you can get.
Is the bulb vertical in the tank?  How close can he get to the bulb?  Are you using a bright white light in conjunction with the UVB light?
An ideal setup is:
On one side, there needs to be a bright white basking light such as a halogen right alongside the UVB tube bulb, to create a basking site where he gets UVB & heat.  The UVB light should always be mounted overhead to avoid the light being too close.
If you are not using bright enough lighting, & the light is too close, yes, it will be hazardous.
Can you post a picture of your setup?
Turn the light off right now for a few days until his eyes are doing better.  It is a very safe bulb, something is just not setup properly.  Just use a bright white bulb right now.
You can get some turtle eye wash or some saline solution for his eyes.
You are correct in the fact that he does need UVB in order to absorb his calcium & not get metabolic bone disease.
Please post a pic of your setup.  If you have trouble getting it posted here, you can send me a picture of it to my home at:
