marble gecko

Question
Hello, My son got a marble gecko thinking it was similar to a leopard gecko but it has some different needs.  We have the lights and heat bed keeping the temp at 75-85.  He did get a burned foot from the heat lamp on the top cage so we took the heat lamp off.  He is getting better but is not eating the crickets.  We have been feeding him meal worms.  Is it okay to eat only meal worms?  What else can we put in the cage to make him comfortable?
Thank you,
Karen

Answer
OK,  there's a lot to cover here but I will try and keep it concise so your not reading a novel.
1) Basking spot is a must have.  Try suspending the heat lamp above the enclosure so its not resting on the enclosure.  Most likely this is why he is not eating much.  Basking spot needs to be 95.
2) Add as many branches or plastic vines as you can without being to cluttered they are an arboreal species which enjoy climbing.  Sand Blasted grapevine works really well.
3) They will also eat tropical flavored baby foods such as guava, peach, etc.
4)Use a calcium powder to dust any insects and foods that you offer as they do need it.  Personally I recommend Sticky Tongue Farms brand which you can find online and at most reptile stores as well.

This should help you get the gecko into a better situation and please feel free to contact me directly through my site www.reptileapartment.com I look forward to hearing from you as the Gecko grows and becomes a great pet!
