Question
"Hi! My son has 2 Japanese fire-bellied newts that are about 6 years old. For the past 5 years the female has laid eggs on the same plastic plant. We have never successfully raised they them. The first year they ate them, we learned to remove them after that! She has once again laid her eggs. How can we properly do this?"

Answer
Hello Jeni,
The eggs will take 12-17 days to hatch and any eggs that turn white or fuzzy should be discarded. There really isn't a lot of written information on this topic but here are the links I know are reliable. Just keep them at the same temperature and such as the adults are. Here are the links about caring for them:

Good luck! I hope you get little baby newts this time!
