Question
I have a gekco that has blown its tail and has some wounds on its body I am wondering if there is something I can give her to help the healing process

Answer
Hi Candace,
Do you know what the wounds are from?  If its from housing two geckos together, you need to separate them to prevent it from happening again.
You can apply some Neosporin ointment to the wounds and tail stump.  Be sure that your insects are gut loaded well with veggies, grains, sugar free cereals before feeding them to your gecko.  Tails are where they store their fat and with no tail, their fat reserves are depleted so extreme care must be taken to give them the best nutrition possible in the foods they eat.  If you have sand or other loose substrate in the tank, remove it and use paper towels to prevent any substrate from getting into the wounds.  Sand is not recommended for geckos as it can cause blockages internally.
If any of the wounds are oozing anything other than some clear liquid in a day or so, then a trip to the vet is needed for some oral antibiotics.
