Question

Cottonmouth?
Dear BPC,
please find attached a picture of a snake that I found in the Everglades NP., Florida. It was perhaps a little more than 2 feet long.
I suspect it to be a Cottonmouth, but would appreciate your opinion. The head was raised and I believe that this may be a behavioural characteristic, possibly in response to a perceived threat such as someone getting too close to take it's picture.
Thanks

Answer
I agree 100% that is indeed a cottonmouth.  Really all you had to say was Everglades NAtional Park LOL.  I went down there looking for all those burmese pythons that "are taking over the place" and stayed for a weekend.  I saw NO burmese but a whole lot of those cottonmouths.  At least a dozen a night road cruising.  The only exotic I found in ENP was a cuban tree frog, but on the way home there was an iguana in the middle of the interstate!
