Green basilisk abnormal behaviour

Question
Hi,

We have had "basil" for about 9 years and have had no health complications but recently he has been showing incredibly bizarre behaviour. When feeding he tends to go very rigid and throw himself backwards and forwards with his mouth open, also he repeats this behaviour with his eyes shut and rolls on the floor flailing his legs around.

I obbserved him with some crickets in his cage, he seems to notice them but is not co-ordinated enough to catch them and often bites the varies bits of bark and plants in his viv instead. Now we have to hand feed him as he cant seem to do it by himself anymore. Any insight into this behaviour would be greatly appricated!

Thanks,

Regards Phil

Answer
Hello Phil,

That is great Basil is 9 years old.
That is very bazaar behavior.
Have you been using a UVB light?  If so, what type & brand of UVB lighting are you using, a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light?  How old is it?
How often do you supplement calcium for him?  Do you give vitamins weekly, as well?
It sounds like a nutritional deficiency, possibly metabolic bone disease.  The seizures are pretty common to metabolic bone disease complications.
Can you post a picture of him for me?
