tokay geckos

It looks like my tokay has a growth on its ankle.what could it be?

Hi Paul,

Reptiles are susceptible to pretty much all the same health problems that mammals have and then a few more.

If it is in the skin over the ankle then it could be a benign cyst or an abscess. Tumours are less likely but not impossible. Swelling of the joint itself could be anything from calcium deficiency, injury, infection or even gout.

If it continues to grow (some are self-limiting) and appears to be interfering with his ability to move and hunt or is causing pain then a vet is really your best option.
