Bottom feeder

My daughter has painted turtles. Any attempt to keep a scavenger in the huge tank has been unsucessful. The turtles kill the scavengers. What scavenger could she get that would effectivly clean the tank yet not meet with death?

Hello Trish, sorry for a late reply, do the winter weather here lately it's been hard getting an internet connection for any period of time.

Turtles are omniverous and love their protein. The best you can do is get a powerful filter to keep up with it. You will still have to manually clean the tank every so often but a strong filter will help a lot.

But cleaner fish, shrimp, snails, will all end up food as they do in the wild habitats of these turtles.
